IT Works Fat Fighter is a diet pill designed to help people to lower their calorie intake and lose weight. This is primarily achieved by the product’s ability to block dietary fats and carbohydrate.
The advertised benefits are:
- Blocks some of the fat and carbs from meals
- Balances blood sugar levels and reduces hunger cravings
- Cactus-based formula
- Does not contain shellfish
The product is manufactured in the USA by IT Works. The company was founded in 2001 by an ex-school teacher called Mark Pentecost, and his first product was a body toning wrap called “That Crazy Wrap Thing”. By 2012, the company had achieved over USD$ 200 million in sales and was offering a number of other health and wellness products. However, although Pentecost’s success gained him a favourable write up in Forbes magazine, over 300 customers have lodged complaints about the company via the Better Business Bureau.
Claims: To block some of the fat and carbs from meals and balances blood sugar levels and reduces hunger cravings

Negatives: Not one to invest your weight loss hopes into.
What is IT Works Fat Fighter and How Does it Work?
Fat blocking diet pills prevent the body from absorbing all of the fat that is provided by the diet. The fat that is not digested passes through the intestines untouched and is excreted with the stool. Carb blockers do a similar thing with carbohydrates. A gram of fat contains nine calories, and a gram of carbohydrate contains four calories, so pill that can interfere with their digestion in this way can be very good for restricting the calorie intake.
Two tablets provide:
- Chromium (150mcg)
- NeOpuntia (500mg)
- Proprietary Blend (510mg): Garcinea cambogia, green tea leaf extract, white kidney bean extract, bitter melon, banaba leaf extract, gymnema sylvestre, wheat amylase inhibitor, vanadium
Chromium is a mineral that helps prevent the post-eating sugar spikes that can trigger a desire for sweet food. NeOpuntia is a branded form of nopal cactus extract. Nopal is one of the most respected fat blocking ingredients available and it’s abilities in this regard are scientifically proven. Nopal also has a long history of use as an appetite suppressant, so it’s presence here serves more than one function.
The promised carb blocking effect could be fulfilled by the presence of white kidney bean extract—if enough was included. The dose used is generally quite high, and one study used 1000mg before meals. The entire proprietary blend is only 510mg, and it contains seven other ingredients, so the amount here is unlikely to be enough. The presence of a wheat-based amylase inhibitor may also help with carb blocking but, once again, the amount included is probably too low. Garcinia cambogia may help with appetite suppression, and green tea is a proven fat burner, but the lack of inclusion rates makes it impossible to say how well either ingredient is likely to perform.
Customer feedback is mixed.
A few average customer reviews read:
Side Effects & Health Issues
A few customers state the formulation upset their stomach and gave them diarrhoea. Due to the way they work, all fat blockers have the potential to cause diarrhoea if people continue to eat foods that contain a lot of fat. Fat blockers must be used in conjunction with a healthy low-fat diet.
Overall the tablets appear to be tolerated well, but IT Works state women who are pregnant or nursing should check with their doctor prior to using the product. They offer the same advice to people who are using medication or have existing medical conditions.
Purchasing Options & Considerations
IT Works is a multi level marketing company. Customers have the option of making a one-off purchase as a “Retail Customer” or becoming a “Loyal Customer” and attaining a significant discount. The catch is, Loyal Customers have to agree to receive monthly shipments of pills via the IT Works autoship program. The third option is to sign up as an IT Works distributor and start actively marketing the company’s products in the hopes of building a lucrative business.
A 60-capsule bottle of pills generally retails for USD$ 43 (£33.60), but Loyal Customers only pay USD$ 25 (£20). However, although customers based in the US can buy directly from the IT Works company website, this does not appear to be an option for people living in the UK. There are several versions of the site. The UK version contains many of the company’s products, but Fat Fighter is not one of them.

The Bottom Line
Although the ingredients used in the proprietary blend should support weight loss, the inclusion rates are unknown and the blend may not contain enough of the better ingredients such as green tea and garcinia cambogia.
The amount of white kidney bean used is especially questionable, so the tablets are unlikely to have the power to block carbs. The Nopal should help with appetite suppression and fat blocking though. It seems likely that the people who say IT Works Fat Fighter let them down may have had high carb diets. If this were so the formulation would not be capable of providing the support needed.
This is just speculation though. The fact is, Fat Fighter appears to work for some people, but not for others and there is no money back guarantee.
