Swisse Ultiplus Weight Control is an appetite suppressing diet pill produced by Swisse. The company is based in Australia and has been trading since the 1960s. It has since become part of the Proctor & Gamble “family” and has started marketing products to other areas of the World, including the UK.
The Ultiplus formulation only contains three active ingredients—glucomannan, zinc and chromium. Glucomannan is a highly respected appetite suppressant, and the other two ingredients are not without potential so, in theory, the formulation should be able to help users to lower their calorie intake sufficiently to trigger the body fat burning process.
Possible Advertised benefits Include:
- Provides appetite suppression
- Supports the normal metabolism of macronutrients
- Contributes to the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels
- Produced to high quality standards
Whats In The Formula
The overall daily dosage (9 capsules) provides:
An ingredient that is sourced from the roots of a perennial plant native to several Asian countries. Glucomannan fibres are incredibly absorbent and capable of taking up many times their own weight in fluid. The fibres expand considerably during the process and everything happens quite quickly. Diet supplements that contain glucomannan are taken with plenty of water, about half an hour before meals, and the resulting expansion of the fibres within the stomach creates a feeling of satiety and naturally suppresses the appetite.
Unlike many other diet pill ingredients, glucomannan’s ability to support weight loss has been scientifically proven by a number of studies. In 2010, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) examined the claims made for the ingredient, along with the data obtained from several of the most respected studies and confirmed there was a cause and effect relationship between glucomannan and weight loss. In an article published in their journal, the EFSA also pointed out optimum results would require at least 3g of glucomannan fibre per day, spread across 3 x 1g doses and taken with 1-2 glasses of water. They also stressed the importance of an energy-restricted diet.
Chromium (198 µg)
During the 1950s Chromium developed a reputation as a fat burner. The claims made in this regard have since been nullified by a number of studies, but chromium can be useful for controlling insulin and blood sugar levels.
Zinc has been added here in the belief that its presence will aid the metabolism of carbohydrates and fats. This is a claim that cannot be dismissed out of hand, but it is difficult to locate supportive studies. Zinc can boost testosterone production though, and the increased availability of this important hormone has been linked to improved fat burning abilities.
