Full & Slim Diet Drink Review

Full & Slim (or Full and Slim  – even the manufacturers don’t appear to be too sure judging by the official website) is now on sale after a pretty high profile introduction.

Virtually all British daily newspapers have featured the new diet drink comparing it to the effects of a gastric band and stating that the manufacturers say it can help dieters shift 14lbs in a just over a month and half.

How Does Full & Slim Work

Essentially it is an appetite suppressant that is taken in the form of a drink. Once swallowed the  contents expand in the stomach causing a feeling of fullness in the user resulting in a much reduced intake of calories.

This process is very simple, tried and tested and not exactly new, virtually all appetite suppressants work in a similar fashion by decreasing hunger in the user. How this is comparable to a gastric band is anyones guess.

Full and Slim is available in three flavours: Orange, Grapefruit and Mango and Passionfruit. It can be purchased in boxes of 21, 42 or 63 sachets. each sachets cost £1.65. If you follow the manufacturers directive and take three sachets a day (£5.95) then it can work out very expensive.

What Is In Full And Slim

glucomannan appetite suppressantThere are are three main active ingredients: Glucomannan, L-Carnatine and Green Tea Extract.

L-Carnatine is a fat burner that can help with the transportation of fatty acids around the body, Green tea extra can help to increase the metabolic rate. It is Glucomannan that is the ingredient of most interest and the one that the products philosophy is built on

Glucommanan (also know as the konjac root) is a natural root that is rich in dietary fibre. Once exposed to water or liquid it can expand to several times its original size.

Full&Slim In The Media

As mentioned above it has appeared in many national newspapers including the Daily Mail and Daily Express.

Full and Slim Success Stories

There has been one clinical trial involving 500 women. The manufacturers claim that 70% of women who participated lost weight with some losing a stone in just over 6 weeks

The makers say that of 500 women who drank the supplement before each meal, around 70 per cent lost a stone or more in weight within six weeks. The average weight was 3lbs per week. Unfortunately we cannot find any reference to these claims.

Is Full & Slim Recommended – Bottom Line

Full & Slim is trying to position itself somewhere between the meal replacement market and diet pill market. It asks the question “do you find meal replacement and diet pills a bit strange?

SupersculptA sachet of Full & Slim costs £1.65, it’s £5.95 for 3 sachets (one of each flavour)  and £28.95 for a box of 21. This works out to be £178 per month or £115 if you buy 4 boxes of 21.

Its main ingredient Glucomannan is its one shining beacon, this natural appetite suppressant has lots of credence, it is with an existing product that is better associated with – the 5:2 Fast Formula.

If you are considering Full And Slim then consider Gravitate Supersculpt, its much less expensive and some pretty convincing clinical data.

Mecktone – the new diet pill by Lucy Mecklenburgh

mecktone diet pillThere have been a spate of new weight loss products that have been introduced on to the market in recent weeks with Mecktone being arguably the most colourful.

The tabloids (the Sun, Mirror, Daily Mail etc) have run articles and features about Mecktone asking “could this possibly live up to its marketing hype

There is certainly no shortage of marketing hype with Mecktone taking its name from former TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh. Lucy, voted bikini body of 2013 certainly has put her name to this product although how much she has had in the concept and design is up for interpretation.

Official website of MecktoneClaims:  To be a revolutionary diet supplement that can increase metabolism, suppress appetite, improve skin and possess a whole host of other health benefits

Positives: Contains natural ingredients

Negatives: Contains way, way too many ingredients for anyone single ingredient to have any effect at all. Overhyped. Offers an auto-billing scheme

What Is Mecktone

It is claimed to be a revolutionary product that can detox, cleanse and tone – the holy trinity as it were. It is a combination of many different natural ingredients: minerals and vitamins.

The official website suggest it can benefit you by:

  • Suppressing your appetite making you feel less hungry
  • Increasing your metabolic rate so that you process calories quicker
  • Regulate your blood sugar levels for efficiently
  • Aid with the digestive process
  • Improve the appearance of your skin
  • Cleanse and detox your body
  • Help the weight loss process
  • Enhance radiance (whatever that means)

So all in it appears on paper to be a must have.

How Does Mecktone Work

The ingredient mix is a blend of natural herbs, minerals and spices – this according to the official website. The website does not go into finer detail as to how the products actually works. We are told the proposed benefits without the how!

What In It – Ingredients

Mecktone-imageUp until this point there is nothing ultimately wrong with Mecktone. Its well marketed albeit slightly overhyped – the ingredient list tends to undo everything that is positive. Although there is only natural ingredients included there is far too many ingredients – about 75% too many.

If you can imagine a standard sized vegecap (or capsule) it contains a certain capacity. There has to be a minimum IU (International Unit) level for anything to be truly effective otherwise it gets diluted. The amounts are not shown on the official website – we are only hazarding a guess here, maybe its because there is only trace amounts of each ingredient.

Some of the standout ingredients are: aloe vera, enugreek, cayenne pepper, green tea, green papaya, psyllium husk, peppermint and vitamins including B3, B5, B6 and Folic Acid. Cayenne pepper being the most interesting.

In The Media

Possibly its greatest feat its its entry into the market by way of the media. Having Lucy Mecklenburgh on board is an obvious positive. The tabloids have been a great help.

Where To Buy Mecktone

It is available from the official website, it costs £22.99 for one bottle or you can sign up for a monthly or yearly subscription.

Is It Recommended

We cannot recommend on two fronts: firstly it contains too many ingredients, how can any one ingredient be effective when there are over 40. Secondly and even more worrying and problematic its the use of an auto-billing system. Auto-billing has a less than reputable reputation and is synonymous with some annoying customer service issues.

What Do We Recommend

Capsiplex fat burner UKOne ingredient that is listed as part of the Mecktone formula is cayenne pepper – this is none ingredient that forms the basis of Capsiplex.

Capsiplex is highly respected and several pieces of clinical data attached to it – lacking in Mecktone it must be said.

There is also a former soap star who found success with Capsiplex.

Forza T5 Super Strength

Official website for Forza T5 Super strengthOften appearing in the press (Daily Mail, Daily Express), the people at Forza certainly know how to work the press.

The use of a ripped and toned male model to spearhead the T5 advertising campaign suggests that Forza are hoping to target a predominantly male customer base for T5, but there is no reason why women could not use it as well.

A single tub of 60 T5 Super Strength capsules costs £34 from authorised stockists, and the product also appears to be available to buy from Amazon and eBay, but the authenticity of dietary products bought from either of these online marketplaces is never easy to ascertain.

Purchases made from authorised stockists such as Slimming.com are therefore a more advisable option, but the product seems to be sold without the benefit of a money back guarantee.

Dosage – How To Take

The capsules should be taken with water. Users who are taking T5 as an aid to weight loss should take 2 capsules in the morning, and one in the afternoon. If a pre-workout energy boost is required, 2 capsules should be taken half an hour before exercise, but 4 capsules a day should never be exceeded. People who have difficulty sleeping are advised not to take the capsules after 3 pm.

Forza T5 Results

Forza T5 Super Strength capsules are designed to promote thermogenesis (converting excess calories into heat and expending them as thermal energy instead of storing them as fat).  The process provides increased calorie burning, even while resting, and encourages the oxidization of stored body fat which is then used for energy.

Key Ingredients

The blend contains a few fillers and colorants, but the main active ingredients are:

Caffeine (185mg):  A proven stimulant that should provide some extra energy and focus.
L-Tyrosine (125mg): An amino acid that has been linked to effective thyroxin synthesis and is believed to increase the metabolic rate.
Green Tea (100mg): Further study is required, but green tea has an enviable reputation for assisting fat burning.
Niacin (60mg):  Believed to assist the body’s metabolic process.
Spirulina (40mg): An algae that is rich in nutrients, and may boost the immune system, but is not generally associated with weight loss; so the reason for its inclusion here is hard to say.
L-Taurine (20mg): An amino acid that may enhance metabolic function and encourage fat burning.
Guarana (12mg):  A rich source of caffeine that is released into the body more slowly than other forms of caffeine and can provide longer periods of stimulation.
Iron (10mg):  Beneficial to the body in many ways, but not generally associated with weight loss.
Chromium (130µg):  Studies conducted on rats indicate chromium may assist fat burning, but the inclusion rate here may be a little low.
Iodine (120µg):  Correct thyroid function is known to be a contributing factor to successful weight loss, so iodine is probably included here because of its ability to promote healthy thyroid function.
Often appearing in the press (Daily Mail, Daily Express), the people at Forza certainly know how to work the press.

Media Focus

Forza T5 Super Strength has received a significant amount of media attention for being the favored supplement of Spencer Matthews, whose ripped and toned physique graced the cover of Men’s Health magazine. Six weeks prior to the shoot Spencer was a 13 stone 8lbs and very out of shape. Much of Spencer’s success can probably be attributed to the strict diet and grueling workout routine recommended by  Men’s Health‘s fitness expert, Shaun Stafford, but the fact that T5 was Stafford’s chosen supplement probably speaks volumes for its reputation amongst weight loss experts.

Customer Feedback

Although there are a few nay-sayers, independent reviews are predominantly positive.

“I have been using these for a few weeks now and certainly feel the benefits. I have 2 in the morning and one at lunch time which curbs the hunger and certainly gives me an extra energy boost when I attend the gym. I haven’t had any side effects and would certainly recommend them!”

Forza T5 Side Effects

Forza state that T5 is not suitable for pregnant or nursing mothers, anyone under 18 years of age, or people who have known medical problems or are taking medication. They further state that side effects are rare if the supplement is used in the recommended manner, but suggest seeking medical advice if adverse reactions are experienced.

The Bottom Line

Forza are a respected manufacturer of dietary supplements and, although the lack of a money back guarantee is a little disappointing, T5 Super Strength appears to be one of their more popular and longstanding products. The high level of caffeine may make the blend unsuitable for caffeine-sensitive users, but the majority of users should be able to use T5 with little or no issue. Customer feedback suggests an effective blend, and T5 is readily available from a variety of sources, is reasonably priced, and ticks all the boxes necessary for it to be recommended for weight loss and/or for use as a training aid.
